Expenses

Your donation to PURE is used to purchase and cancel carbon credits, thus reducing carbon emissions and climate change.

In order to do this, we need to incur the following types of expense:

– Banking, credit card and transaction fees
– Legal and auditing fees
– Administrative costs
– Web-site maintenance
– Fund-raising costs
– Carbon procurement costs
– Unrecoverable VAT.

Outsourcing essential functions is particularly cost effective.  Our chosen service provider, Climate Exchange (Europe) Ltd makes sure that this is taken care of on behalf of the Trustees in return for a fee which is included in the charity’s very low expense ratio.

If you are an eligible UK taxpayer we guarantee that at least 100% of your net donation will be used directly to purchase and retire carbon credits.

The Gift Aid we reclaim from HM Revenues & Customs covers all of our expenses.

* The maximum expense ratio authorised by the Independent Trustees is 22.0%. This expense ratio applies to web based donations where transactional cost efficiency is impaired by small volumes and the high cost of credit card and similar expenses
