Carbon prices

PURE’s commitment is to offer to all of its donors, whether small or large, the ability to offset their emissions at a price as close as possible to the wholesale price for carbon credits, reducing additional unnecessary costs.

The price we pay changes each month in accordance with market conditions.

The current carbon prices per tonne are:

With Gift Aid:	£11.39
Without Gift Aid:	£14.60

Our strategy:

• We primarily buy and cancel Certified Emission Reduction credits (CERs) issued by the United Nations; in addition, phase 2 EU Allowances (EUAs) may sometimes be bought where appropriate.
  
  
• Each CER or EUA is equivalent to an emissions reduction of one tonne.
  
  
• The price of CERs and EUAs is determined by the global carbon markets. PURE bases the cost of donations on the published market price.
  
  
• PURE is able to buy and cancel credits at the wholesale price without compromising its quality standards.
  
  
• PURE aggregates the money from many smaller donations into volumes sufficient to secure prices close to wholesale.
  
  
• Allowing for Gift Aid, UK taxpayers can usually offset their emissions at close to wholesale prices.
